Sports massage therapy helps alleviate the stress and tension which builds up in the body’s soft tissues as a result of physical activity.

Where minor injuries or lesions occur, due to overexertion / overuse, massage can break them down. Above all, it can help prevent those niggling injuries that so often get in the way of performance and achievement whatever you level of involvement in sport.

Anyone can benefit from sports massage, such as people in physically demanding jobs and those not quite so obvious occupational, emotional and postural stresses that affect us all. It is based on the various elements of Swedish massage and often incorporates a combination of other techniques involving stretching, compression, friction, toning, and trigger point response techniques similar to Acupressure and Shiatsu and tends to be deeper and more intense. The skilled therapist brings together this blend of techniques, knowledge and advice during treatment, to work effectively with the client to bring about optimum performance and to provide injury free training and minimise post event injuries.

Crystal Therapy is the ancient art of laying-on-of-stones. Gems, stones and crystals are laid on the body over the chakra points. Each chakra resonates to a particular color, so by laying a stone of that color over the chakra, the chakras open, align and blend with one another. When the chakra system is balanced, the physical body is able to innately self-correct and heal.
This helps to remove negativity and restores positive energy, and
well-being. A lovely uplifting treatment, done through clients clothing.

Holistic Massage is about tailoring the treatment for the individual, and its aims are to benefit the client as a whole, taking into account their emotional and spiritually wellbeing, as well as their physical body. Every treatment will therefore, be unique, due to adapting the treatment to suit the cls needs at that given time.

The Massage is performed using a wide range of manipulations to the soft tissues of the body.

The benefits of Massage: helps to improve circulation, by delivering more oxygen and nutrients to the tissues, stimulates the lymphatic system, which carries away waste products, which can cause pain and stiffness in the muscles and joints, relieves tension, aids sleep, invigorates and relaxes the muscles and can have a profound effect on stress and anxiety.

It is both soothing and comforting and can help to restore your natural inner balance, and bring you a sense of wellbeing.

Holistic Massage

Hopi Ear candeling (also known Thermal Auricular Therapy) is a pleasant and non-invasive treatment of the ears, it is used to offer real and calming benefits for many problems and conditions associated with the ear, nose and throat areas. The therapy is widely used by doctors in Europe and America as an alternative to conventional treatments such as antibiotics, ear syringing and grommets. A Hopi ear candle treatment is a deeply relaxing, calming and soothing experience.

The process of Hopi candling involves a specially designed hollow candle being inserted just inside the ear canal. The hopi candle is then lit and the suction that is formed draws secretion flow is gently stimulated and the vapour collects and removes impurities or deposits. Often referred to as the ‘chimney' effect. The rising air gives the ear drum a gentle massage and also helps to regulate ear pressure. This is soothing, calming and protects the irritated areas.

Most of theseare carried away through the candle "chimney", although some of them can be found in the condensed or lower section of candle wax after removal fromthe ear, or could even work their way up to the surface 24-48 hours after.

Reiki is a hands on system of energy healing and balancing which works on all levels, physical, mental, emotional, and spiritual. UNIVERSAL LIFE FORCE (Rei) and ENERGY (Ki) is channelled through the therapist and felt generally as a beautiful heat by the recipient, resulting in a profound level of calm, peace and balance. The treatment follows the body’s energy centres or chakras which themselves correspond to the organs and glands, either stimulating or sedating the amount of energy in each vital area. Reiki works directly to stimulate the body’s natural healing ability, speeding up recovery from illness or injury, improving energy levels, reducing stress on all levels by improving our sense of responsibility to our health, our lives and others.

Anyone can receive Reiki, will do no harm, will enhance all other therapies and will hopefully enlighten the receivers own joy.

Thai Hot Herbal Compress Massage

The use of Herbal Heated Compresses is a traditional method of therapy which has been used for centuries throughout Thailand to relieve weary bodies and minds.

The hot herbal compresses contain numerous aromatic herbs tightly bound in pure cotton which are then soaked and steamed to infuse the contents of the herbs. The compresses are then applied to the entire body with Eastern massage techniques using patting, pounding, kneading and rolling movements along with gentle, but deeply effective massage.

Energy channels in the body known as ‘Sen lines’ are treated to enter the body into deep relaxation, relieving stress and promoting emotional and physical wellbeing.

The compresses possess herbs such as, Lemongrass, Ginger, Turmeric and Kaffir Lime which are anti-inflammatory, antiseptic, astringent and antioxidant.

The heat from the compress, carries these herbal essences, deep into the pores of the skin, releasing their healing benefits, and stimulating the vital organs and senses.

The treatment helps to soothe sore muscles, increases circulation, relieves tension, promotes relaxation, improve mood, ease congestion, relieves stress and fatigue and aids sleep, amongst many other healing benefits.

This massage is not suitable if you are sensitive to heat or medication that can cause a sensitivity to heat, or if you are suffering from sunburn.

Art Therapy is a form of psychotherapy that uses art media as its primary mode of communication.Clients do not need not have previous experience or skill in art.The art therapist is not primarily concerned with making an aesthetic or diagnostic assessment of the client's image. The overall aim of its practitioners is to enable a client to effect change and growth on a personal level through the use of art materials in a safe and facilitating environment.

The relationship between the therapist and the client is of central importance, but art therapy differs from other psychological therapies in that it is a three way process between the client, the therapist and the image or artefact. Thus it offers the opportunity for expression and communication and can be particularly helpful to people who find it hard to express their thoughts and feelings verbally.
The group sessions are held at Jan Rawnsley Art Studio in Leek Wootton on 3 Tuesdays every month from 10am to 2.30pm.The cost will be £20 per day but £50 for all three days if reserved and paid in advance. The cost will include tea/coffee & biscuits on arrival and tea/coffee at lunchtime.

This is a specialist area of Reflexology practice.

The method is built on a combination of Native American techniques and Asian body maps that chart the reflex points on the face.

The unique benefit of Facial Reflexology is that not only does it aim to improve health and wellbeing, it also can help a client to look better, younger and have a healthy glow on the outside.

The face will feel and look smoother and more toned as the circulation increases and muscle tension is relieved.

Potentially, over a series of sessions there may be a reduction in lines and wrinkles, helping clients to feel good and look good! This is in addition to stimulating the body's healing mechanisms and encouraging the body to eliminate toxins.

I trained at Regents University , London, with Ziggie Bergman, creator of the award winning Bergman method facial reflexology and zonefacelift.

Facial Reflexology
Reflexology is an ancient healing art based on the presence of ten energy zones within the body. With Reflexology, your body’s health is reflected in your feet. The various organs, nerves and glands in your body are connected with certain ‘reflex areas’ on the soles, toes, tops and sides of your feet. By applying pressure to specific areas on the feet, remarkable healing effects are noted in seemingly unconnected and unrelated distant regions.
It is a safe and simple therapy which promotes better health by reducing stress and tension, strengthening the body’s ability to resist disease, flushing toxins out of the system, and improving circulation so the body can heal itself. This brings your body into balance and promotes good health.
The treatment helps to promote relaxation, release tension and stress and improve sleep, increasing a sense of well being. By treating the whole person through touch on the feet, Reflexology may help the body maintain it's natural balance.

Bowen is an extremely gentle, hands-on holistic muscle release therapy used in humans and animals. It was pioneered by Thomas Ambrose Bowen born in 1916 in Australia.

How does it work? The technique appears to activate the body's own healing abilities, releasing muscle spasms and re-aligning skeletal imbalances as well as increasing lymphatic drainage and blood supply to the affected areas to enhance healing.

The treatments. The practitioner uses her hands on specific parts of the body such as muscle and other soft tissue, using gentle rolling movements with a view to activating communication between nerve endings and the brain to facilitate healing. This aims to restore natural pain free movement. The treatment sessions are about an hour and can be given through light clothing.

Bowen Technique
Coaching is a communication-method of providing an individual with structured, impartial support to implement specific strategies towards setting well-defined goals. With coaching, you can re-connect with your core values and needs. You can gradually feel more at ease, think better, feel more secure and take charge of your life.

Coaching is not therapy: it does not dwell on past mistakes or behaviours. Instead, it is forward-looking, inspiring you to draw on your natural strengths.

Your therapist will focus on you as an individual to: build confidence; strengthen your motivation; rediscover your talents; deal with phobias; improve relationships; harmonise family- and parenting-dynamics; support you in career-changes; and maximize your performance.

Life Coaching
Meditation is a means of transforming the mind. Meditation practices are techniques that encourage and develop concentration, clarity, emotional positivity, and a calm seeing of the true nature of things. By engaging with a particular meditation practice you learn the patterns and habits of your mind, and the practice offers a means to cultivate new, more positive ways of being. With regular work and patience these nourishing, focused states of mind can deepen into profoundly peaceful and energised states of mind. Such experiences can have a transformative effect and can lead to a new understanding of life.
